Clemens Schuldt makes his debut at the Venice Biennale this week, conducting a concert performance of George Benjamin’s critically acclaimed opera ‘Written on Skin’. Conducting the RAI‘s Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale, the concert will open the 63rd edition of the festival, and features a cast including Christopher Purves, Georgia Jarman, James Hall, Victoria Simmonds and Robert Murray.

The performance will also honour George Benjamin, who will be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Music 2019. Clemens Schuldt conducted George Benjamin’s ‘Into the Little Hill’ with the Munich Chamber Orchestra in January 2018, and their relationship has subsequently thrived resulting in their collaboration once more for this special performance in Venice.
